Ranchi is
the capital of newly created state Jharkhand. At an altitude of 600 meters, and
once the summer capital of undivided Bihar and a hill station resort, is today
an important industrial city. Ranchi is well connected to all major cities via
air, rail and road. Daily flights are available from / to Delhi, Calcutta,
Patna, Lucknow, etc. Direct train service is available to all major cities. By
road one can reach from Tata Nagar (Jamshedpur) (130 km) , Dhanbad (180k) ,
Ramgarh (30km), Hazaribagh (60km), Gaya (200km).
Ranchi is normally has a very good weather.
During December, warm clothes are necessary.

| Regular bus services are available
from Hazaribag, Patna, Gaya, Tatanagar (Jamshedpur), Howrah, Siliguri,
Dhanbad, |
| Reaching BIT:
(i) From Ranchi Railway station take Autorickshaw (Rs. 80-120), Taxi
(180-250) to reach BIT. Or take a Autorickshae or Rickshaw to reach St.
Xaviers College, BIT runs buses fromoutside St. Xaviers college on regular
interval.
(ii) From Barkakana / Ramgarh Railway Station take Jeep (known here as
truckers) on share basis (Rs. 10-12) to reach BIT more. From here take
rickshaw (Rs. 15) or Autorickshaw (Rs. 25) to reach BIT campus.
(iii) From Birsa Munda Busstand take Taxi / Autorickshaw to reach BIT
